Classes in the Aligarh Muslim University came to a standstill today in view of a token strike to demand the revised pay scale for teachers. The strike, called by the Federation of Central Universities Teachers Association, is against the delay in finalisation of the Sixth Pay Commission report.
The president of the AMU Staff Association Saleem Akhtar claimed that there was a total strike in the university."Leaders of the federation will be meeting at the Jamia Milia University New Delhi on August 13, to chalk out their future course of action," he said.He blamed the committee headed by G K Chaddha for the delay in implementing the revised pay scale for teachers of central universities.
